How Philanthropy Expert Helped with Fundraising to Bring Denver School of Science and Technology to Aurora Public Schools
PE supported the fundraising efforts of Aurora Public Schools to bring a Denver School of Science and Technology to their district and were able to raise $4.25M in just one year.
The Challenge
Aurora Public Schools was lacking a school of the academic caliber of Denver School of Science and Technology. The Anschutz Medical Campus was willing to donate acreage to house this new school, Aurora Science and Tech in partnership, but there was a need to raise critical funds for the project to build the physical space.
Bringing Science and Technology to Aurora’s Youth
DSST has long been one of the leading charter systems in the country and most recently received the Broad Prize for excellence in education. Aurora Public Schools is a district of momentum and with Rico Munn at the helm, who recently was recognized as ‘Superintendent of the Year’- the two make a winning combination for the kids in north Aurora.
The Solution
Working closely with the foundation community, we were able to quickly raise $4.25M in capital dollars.
