Jen joins Philanthropy Expert after 25+ years teaching research, persuasive and creative writing, critical thinking, and literature at the university level–the last 15 years at Colorado Mesa University. As a faculty member, she helped colleagues and students navigate grant writing and wrote dozens in support of her own scholarship, as well as campus events and organizations. She developed a reputation for helping committees and boards, both on campus and off, build mission statements and strategic plans, incorporate DEI/EIB values into goals and strategies, raise funds and generate excitement, and plan events. As a Board Member of the City of Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture, she evaluated grant requests for six years and then administered the awarded grants she championed. This means she understands what funders are looking for in partnering with grantees. She’s done volunteer and pro-bono work with political campaigns, such as the Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom Campaign, and on legislation, and she currently sits on the Cobalt Advocates c(4) Board of Directors. Her passion is helping clients and organizations find the best words in the right order to change minds.
