Cheri Gonzales

Cheri, pronounced shur-ee (think ‘Rock the Casbah’ lyrics by The Clash), has over 13 years of nonprofit management and leadership experience in programming, development, and marketing. In her most recent role as Director of Development & Communications at Focus Points Family Resource Center, she utilized communications and fundraising efforts to advocate for accessible community offerings. This included English Language Acquisition (ELA) programming, Early Childhood Education, family development and assistance support, and social enterprise programs that facilitate entrepreneurship and education for participants in the culinary and urban agriculture spaces.

Cheri also has a deep passion for arts & culture organizations and spent nearly nine years in various roles at the Denver music nonprofit, Swallow Hill Music. From managing a teaching staff of over 60 educators at three locations as School Director to diversifying Swallow Hill’s individual and corporate donor portfolio while on the fundraising and development team, she has felt fortunate to grow her skill set while in each role. Cheri received her graduate certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Colorado Denver in 2020 and is an active member of the development committee at The GrowHaus, a Denver nonprofit cultivating community-driven food justice.

You can find Cheri spending her free time playing soul/rock music in a band with her husband, baking sourdough bread, and snuggling her two dogs, Janis Joplin (Joplin) and Charles Chandler (Charlie).
