Rachel Garcia (she/her/hers) brings her unique background and experience to Philanthropy Expert as a Grant Writer. She currently has the privilege of living in her hometown of Greeley, CO. She is anchored to her hometown for two reasons; 1) her adoration for her city, and 2) the proximity to her family. Rachel deeply values her community and cherishes her family and neighbors. She holds a strong passion for community service and volunteerism.
Rachel studied Elementary Education at the University of Northern Colorado but ultimately decided to explore beyond the classroom post-graduation. She still holds a strong passion for education but feared becoming complicit in a system that disproportionately discriminates against students of color, disability, and/or socioeconomic status. Her exploration led to her enrollment and service in AmeriCorps VISTA where she served with the United Way of Weld County. During this VISTA term, Rachel successfully sustained the Weld County School District 6 Farm to School Program, one of the most robust Farm to School programs in the nation. Her additional professional experience includes extensive community volunteering, teaching, and coaching.
Rachel hopes to increase the capacity of Philanthropy Expert and learn along the way.
